A series of photographs taken after the passage of Hurricane Earl in Caye Caulker.
We were in Flores, Guatemala, when Belize was being hit by the hurricane. We had to wait several days before being able to enter the country, and when we got to Belize City they had only just restored the electricity.
We took the first boat to Caye Caulker, when we arrived the island was pretty much deserted apart from a few locals and tourists who had braved the hurricane. Half the island had no electricity and the other half was closed. Earl's damage was visible, but not devastating. We set up camp in a cheap and empty hotel that we found by luck, as everything else was closed. We watched and gave a hand in pulling the place back together. Here are the photos of the Caye Caulker we experienced - an oddly displaced piece of paradise all to ourselves.
